Safaricom has added Neon Smarta and Neon Ultra smartphones to its Lipa Mdogo Mdogo program to allow users to pay as they can daily or weekly.

Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Peter Ndegwa said that including the two brands will allow more locals to access the internet affordably.

“We are keen to enable more Kenyans enjoy the transformative power of the internet by availing affordable 4G devices through Lipa Mdogo Mdogo, which has already empowered over 1 million Kenyans to upgrade from 2G featurephones,” he said.

“We also continue to invest in our network to provide our customers with the best connectivity across the country,” Ndegwa added.

The Lipa Mdogo Mdogo solution, which was unveiled in 2020, was used to boost 4G adoption in the nation.

Since that time, Safaricom has collaborated with producers, including Transsion, Samsung, and Nokia to provide more cell phones to the pay-as-you-go service.

Google Apps, which include search, maps, Gmail, and YouTube, are pre-installed on the handsets.
