Demarai Gray left Everton for Al-Ettifaq ahead of Thursday's Saudi Pro League transfer deadline.

The 27-year-old forward is the latest Premier League star to go to the Gulf country, joining former Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson at Steven Gerrard's club.

Gray left Goodison Park for an undisclosed amount, rumored to be £8 million ($10 million), following the breakdown of his relationship with Everton manager Sean Dyche.

The winger took to Instagram to express his complaints, stating it was "difficult to play for someone who doesn't show you respect as a person."

Dyche responded by claiming Gray had practically gone on strike, stating that he did not want to practice because he believed he had secured a transfer away from the club.

After coming to England from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021, the former Leicester star made 75 appearances for Everton, scoring 12 goals.

This season, he has not appeared for Everton.

In a statement, the Jamaica international said he would be "forever proud" to have played for Everton, who are in the relegation zone after a terrible start to the season.


"There has been a lot of speculation about my situation all summer," he continued. "The truth is that I gave my all to this club on and off the field, in good times and bad."

"I was prepared to play as much football as possible this season, but it didn't seem like it was going to happen." It's time to move on to the next chapter. "I am match fit and eager to get started."
