A 42-year-old man was Wednesday admitted at the Yala Sub-county Hospital in Siaya County after he was hacked by his neighbour for giving the neighbour’s chicken to a friend at Kodiaga market in Gem.

Confirming the incident, Siaya County Police Commander Mr. Cleti Kimaiyo said one Miriam Nyende of Kodiaga Market reported at the Mutumbu Police post that his cousin Thomas Oluoch had been hacked on the head.

According to Kimaiyo, officers from the police post rushed to the scene. They established that an assailant alias, Shida, had given the victim a hen for temporary custody, and on demanding it back, he was informed that the hen had been taken by his friend alias, Rasta.

They were informed that Shida became furious and hacked Thomas, thereby inflicting a deep cut on his head using a panga.

Further, he said the victim was rushed to Yala sub-county hospital where he was admitted in critical condition as investigations began into the matter.

 He stated that after committing the felony, the assailant escaped together with his weapon and is still at large.
