On Monday morning, an 18-year-old Form, Four students at Faza Secondary School in Lamu County died after being stabbed during a quarrel during break time.

The suspect is allegedly a 17-year-old Form Three pupil at the same school who is on the run.

Mr Abud Mohamed, a village elder, and Mr Shoka, the school principal, corroborated the occurrence.

According to a witness, the two pupils fought during break time before one of them stabbed the other in the back.

"It started with a small argument, and they continued to yell at each other."

"Unfortunately, things escalated, and one of them lost his cool and stabbed his colleague," the witness explained.

The student was transported to Faza Level 4 Hospital in severe condition but was confirmed dead upon arrival.

"This is quite unfortunate. We are encouraging the authorities to arrest the perpetrator and guarantee justice,'' Mr Abud added.

The school principal acknowledged the occurrence over the phone but stated that he was not present then.

The inquiry into the incident has commenced.

As the investigations continue, community leaders have urged for peace and tranquillity.

Residents said the incident highlighted the need for schools to implement preventative measures.
