After being imprisoned for four days, controversial preacher Eliud Wekesa Simiyu alias Yesu wa Tongaren was released by a Bungoma court.
On Tuesday, Judge Tom Mark Orlando ruled that the prosecution did not present enough evidence to the court to charge Yesu wa Tongaren.
He also directed that police not interfere with his actions in Tongaren.
The prosecution had asked for the controversial preacher's detention to investigate his religious group, which they claimed contained problematic doctrines.
During this period, the police intended to search Yesu wa Tongaren's residence, which they said was a crime scene, his church, and have the preacher undergo a mental evaluation.
