Nairobi City County has purchased 19 new vehicles to increase efficiency and better serve the citizens of Nairobi.

On Tuesday, Governor Johnson Sakaja stated that most new vehicles would be sent to the security and compliance department and inspectorate to replace the battered, outdated vehicles routinely used by County constables (Kanjos) on the road.

"These vehicles are not for the luxury and comfort of individuals." They are intended to benefit the residents of Nairobi. "One of the issues we promised when we took office was that we would address the issue of dilapidated vehicles in the county, which we are doing in stages," said the county manager.

"These are instruments for servicing the people of Nairobi, not harassing them...The citizens of this city must be treated with dignity and respect."

The Governor stated that better income collection, particularly in the first four seasons of this year, had enabled the county to acquire these new cars and invest in infrastructure development when he flagged off the vehicles at City Hall.

"We have increased our revenue collection by Ksh 1.5 billion in the first four months compared to the same period last year," Governor Sakaja remarked.

Revenue, health, the environment, and social services are among the departments that will receive the cars.

Simultaneously, the county administration collaborated with Isuzu Kenya to retrain county drivers.
