The strange death of a form one pupil from Chemase Secondary School in Tinderet Sub County has been the subject of inquiries by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nandi County.

After complaining of chest symptoms at the Chepsese health centre, Kelvin Kiptanui was at the Nandi Hills sub-county hospital, where he died on Friday evening while receiving treatment.

The deceased is said to have been beaten alternately by two teachers at the school after being accused of cheating on the midterm exams, according to the school principal, who reported the incident to the police.

He is said to have cheated with another student between 8:30 and 9:00 on a physics exam.

"The school management didn't receive any sickness report from the youngster only to hear afterwards that he had experienced issues," a police report states.

Mohammed Jire, the Tinderet OCPD, confirmed the occurrence and stated that his officers have already begun looking into the event that led to the death of the kid recently admitted to Chemase Secondary School.

Jire stated, "We will investigate all claims to determine the truth regarding the regrettable occurrence and take suitable measures.

Regarding the institution's alleged cover-up, Jire stated that there would be a postmortem on the deceased's body to determine the exact cause of his demise.

The OCPD promised to charge the teachers with murder if the postmortem results showed that they beat the victim to death.

The administrator pleaded with the public and the deceased's family to maintain their composure while the investigative agencies finished their work, and they promised them that there would be justice.

The school's students became agitated on Sunday night and demanded more information from the management on their colleague's passing.

Since then, the school is now closed indefinitely.
