Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome left the audience in laughter when he revealed that he received advice to consider marrying a new wife following his promotion. Additionally, Koome shared that he was counseled to relocate to the upscale Karen estate after attaining his new status.

"There is someone who came and told me that since I was the new IG and as I moved to Karen, my wife was old and I needed a new one to settle down with," Koome said amid laughter from the crowd.

On Thursday, December 14, the Inspector General addressed an audience at the National Police College 'A' Campus in Embakasi, Nairobi, during the commemorative service for fallen heroes from the police and prisons.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki led the officers from the National Police Service and Kenya Prisons Service in the annual Joint Commemorative Service dedicated to honoring officers who lost their lives in the courageous execution of their duties.

Koome objected to subordinate police officers who embezzled their pay and savings.

"In January 2023, there are some officers who graduated from Kiganjo but if you meet them today are driving luxurious cars they bought from loans simply because they want to scare me away. Kindly stop it," Koome added.
