It's that time of year when the song Stella Wangu by zilizopendwa artist Freshly Mwamburi is trending. On this fateful date, Mwamburi went to pick up his girlfriend from the airport only to find her in the company of a cute Japanese man.

According to the singer, he was shocked when the love of his life arrived in the company of her Japanese lover, and they had a baby together. This event broke Mwamburi's heart and motivated him to write this hit song that captivates kenyans every year.

So who is freshly mwamburi?

Mwamburi Mwakachola (Freshley Mwamburi) was born on November 7, 1958, in the Kilimanjaro foothills near Wundanyi, Taita.

Before attending Alidina Visram, the singer attended Changamwe Boys Day and Boarding School. He discovered his love of singing when he joined the school chorus.

He joined the Air Force as an entertainer after graduating from high school. In 1983, he was signed by the Simba Wanyika band, which was fronted by the late Wilson Peter Kinyonga and his brother George Peter Kinyonga.

He joined Les Wanyika, a group formed by the late John Ngereza and Prof Omar, in 1987. The musician performed in Mama Watoto's, Lipi La Ajabu's, and Afro's extended plays.

He then quit Les Wanyika to create his band, Everest Kings.

He used the song Stella Wangu as the album cover in 1992. His song became an evergreen single, propelled to the top by Freshley's passionate appeal to Stella to "Come back" to him and kept there by Freshley.

He also made a remix nearly 30 years after its original release, which brought back many sentimental memories for Rhumba fans who listened to it in the 1990s. The remix music video and audio were shot in Kenya's magnificent scenery at the Golden Palm Hotel, Kenol, and other locations.
