On Thursday, a Twitter user tweeted pictures of a man dressed as Spider-Man going about his business before suddenly finding himself in a police car. This had Kenyans online scratching their heads.

Twitter user @InsecurityKE tweeted four images of the Nanyuki "Spider-Man"'s detention and questioned why the Administration Police Service (APS) detained the man who was strolling the streets with a shopping basket and was reading a book.

"Oya @APSKenya, Why did you guys arrest Spider-Man?" tweeted the account and tagged the APSKenya account.

When this story was published, the tweet received over 800 RTs, and everyone was curious about what had happened.

In any case, Nanyuki APS confirmed the real purpose for their action, saying that they did not arrest the man but were conducting a health check until Citizen Digital contacted them.

According to a source at APS who wished to remain unidentified, the man is mentally disturbed. His family reported him missing and asked the police to help them locate him.

He was then seen in Nanyuki town and hauled away as the police called his family to come pick him up.

Family members hurried to Nanyuki prison with hospital records to prove his mental illness and escorted him home shortly after his arrest.
