Four suspects have been arraigned at the Kerugoya law courts on suspicion of robbing residents.

The police have been granted permission by the courts to detain the robbery suspects in custody for another six days while investigations continue.

Kerugoya Principal Magistrate Charity Kipkorir Cheruto noted in orders made on Wednesday that the prosecution had persuaded the court to detain the suspects.

The four have been detained at the Kerugoya police station until the 9th of October.

The four defendants, James Murimi, Paul Macharia, Violet Wangechi, and Jackline Nyakio, were seen on CCTV terrorizing the residents of Kerugoya.

The suspects were shown savagely hitting two guys in the now-viral CCTV video, with one of the suspects seen leg-sweeping them before the others stepped in and robbed them of unknown goods.

The four suspects were apprehended in various locations, according to detectives from Kerugoya police station. The first three suspects were apprehended at Kimuri Estate, while the fourth was apprehended in Karia Village.

The latest incident comes after police officers stated in July that they were pursuing members of a group that had been terrorizing communities.

Kirinyaga Central Deputy County Commissioner Daniel Ndege stated that this is in response to growing worries about insecurity.
