Three students from a school in Embu, Kirinyaga County, were arrested for burning down a Ksh.4 million dormitory.

The three students from St. Paul's Kevote High School are accused of working together to commit the crime on October 3, 2023.

Two pupils who appeared before Embu High Court Principal Magistrate Robert Mundia pleaded guilty to the accusations, while the other student contested the charges and maintained his innocence.

The students who denied the charges were released on a Ksh.100,000 bond with a similar surety or a Ksh.50,000 cash bail.

The prosecution requested that the facts be delayed and did not object to the bond terms.

Mundia ordered that the couple wait for facts to be mentioned while the court appointed a pro-bono lawyer for the third accused.

She also ordered that the file be placed under the court's administration, with the case set for October 18, 2023. The three are being held at the Runyenjes Police Station.
