After going missing on October 27, 2023, two tertiary-level students who were enticed to their captors' hideout by a female suspect have been successfully rescued. They were found confined at an AirBnB located in Elgon View apartments in Kitengela, Machakos County. Additionally, two male suspects responsible for their abduction and who had been demanding a Sh6 million ransom from their parents have been apprehended. This operation was led by detectives from the DCI's Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau.

The apprehended suspects, 25-year-old Brian Ombasa Omoso and 22-year-old Humphrey Hinga, have been taken into custody. It is believed they collaborated with the female accomplice, who is still at large, to identify and entice their targeted victims, making their criminal activities seem effortless.

In a case reported at Kiambu Police Station on October 29, the woman, who identified herself as Debbie Zablon, separately lured the two victims to a rendezvous in Nairobi. Much like the biblical Samson in Delilah's arms, she betrayed the 21-year-olds to her co-conspirators.

The dedicated crime researchers empathized with the distressed parents while meticulously examining all potential leads through forensic analysis. Their investigation revealed that the female accomplice had employed a stolen ID card to register the phone line used to communicate with the male students. Interestingly, the rightful owner of the ID card had previously reported its loss at Lang'ata Police Station, absolving her from any involvement with the suspects.

After an unwavering search effort, the terrified and hungry duo was eventually reunited with their families. This ordeal served as a stark reminder of the presence of individuals willing to go to extreme lengths for financial gain.


In addition to the hostages, investigators found a replica of a pistol, a dagger, subscriber SIM cards utilized to contact the parents, counterfeit front and rear car registration plates (KDD 881M) presumably used in their transportation, as well as various tools within the room.

The detectives faced a challenging task as they escorted the suspects to the awaiting police vehicle, with curious locals gathering at the scene, eager to catch a glimpse and perhaps seek retribution from the accused.

Meanwhile, an active manhunt is in progress to locate the female accomplice, who managed to elude capture.
