A police officer was arrested after shooting his wife dead at their house on Tuesday evening in the Railways Police Lines in Eldoret.
According to a police report filed by Constable Maxwell Maina’s neighbor, as she was heading home, she heard gunshot sounds from the officer’s house and alerted police.
“Railways and DCI Soy personnel rushed to the scene and found one Mercy Chebet having been shot twice in the chest and succumbed to injury,” police said.
The gun was given to Maina at 8 PM for train escort, and it was discovered that he had fired three shots when he was arrested.
The investigation also mentioned Maina and Chebet's ongoing domestic disputes.
