Police have arrested a 26-year-old woman and recovered 531 kilograms of bhang, with an estimated street value of over Kes 15 million in Buembu, Migori County.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Molinter Adhiambo Juma was arrested in a sting operation conducted by detectives from the DCI and their K9 Isebania Border Post counterparts.
"A woman implicated in the trafficking of 531Kg of bhang which was earlier today seized at a home compound within Buembu village in Migori is in police custody," the DCI said.
Further, the DCI revealed that nine sacks of cannabis sativa sticks and another 8 containing the unrefined drug were found at the home.
Meanwhile, an unidentified male suspect fled the scene, which has since been established as the home of one Osege Odhiambo.
A search for both Osege and the runaway male suspect is ongoing.
