Police are investigating an incident where the body of a retired teacher who went missing last Sunday was found in a thicket in Chemoset village in Seretut, Kericho County.

According to an official from the provincial administration, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the former teacher reportedly died by suicide.

"The body of the teacher had a rope around his neck. He is believed to have fallen from a tree which he had hung himself on," police said.

The police say the deceased was reported missing by family members.

 A search operation was mounted, only for the decomposing body to be found in a thicket.

Officers from Sosiot police station rushed to the scene and moved the body to the Kericho Referral Hospital mortuary.
