Police have arrested a middle-aged man who reportedly stoned his wife to death at Biretwo Market in Elgeyo Marakwet County on Saturday afternoon.
According to police, the suspect, Boniface Kokwon, is said to have been in an altercation with his wife over suspicion of misusing business funds.
Witnesses say Kokwon dragged his wife from the shop and stoned her to death.
The body has been moved to the Iten County referral hospital Mortuary, with the suspect being detained at the Iten police station pending arraignment on Monday.
“Huyo mzee mwenye kufanya hiyo kitendo alikuwa amesimam tu hapo na alikua ameshika kisu kwa mkono na mawe yenye ndio alikuwa amelenga nayo huyo mama,! Simon Kiplagat, a resident, told Citizen TV.
