The main suspect in the murder of five children in Uasin Gishu has confessed to murdering one of his victims.

Evans Juma Wanjala appeared in the Eldoret High Court on Monday, confessing to murdering 10-year-old Stacy Nabiso.

The suspect sought a plea bargain with the prosecution.

Justice Reuben Nyakundi allowed Wanjala's request to explore a plea bargain deal and deferred the case for two weeks to allow for discussions between the defence and the prosecution.

Nabiso disappeared on December 31, 2019, and her corpse was discovered at the Soweto estate on January 1, 2020.

The court ordered that her remains be exhumed before a post-mortem examination could be completed.

The five children were found killed, and their remains were dumped or buried in various locations within Moi's Bridge community.

The Court heard that DNA tests revealed that samples from the minor's t-shirt and pants matched those retrieved from Wanjala.

Wanjala is accused of murdering Linda Cherono, 13, Mary Elusa, 14, Grace Njeri, 12, and Lucy Wanjiru, 15, after defiling them.

The case is set for a mention and status conference on November 28, 2024.
