An unidentified man's body was discovered on Friday in the Rwamuthambi River at Getuya village, located in Ndia constituency, Kirinyaga County.
Residents came across the remains while fetching water and promptly alerted the authorities, who arrived to begin investigations.
"I was walking nearby when a neighbor informed me about the discovery. Upon reaching the spot, we confirmed it was a man's body. We immediately notified the police," shared Peter Warui, a resident.
Speculation among the locals suggests that the victim might have been murdered elsewhere and his body dumped in the river.
"This area is quite bushy, and it’s possible the crime happened elsewhere. We’re hopeful that detectives will uncover more details during their investigations. It’s hard to understand why someone would commit such an act," added another resident.
