A police constable accused of killing his wife five years ago has been ordered to defend himself after the Eldoret High Court ruled that he has a case to answer.
Justice Reuben Nyakundi stated that the prosecution had presented sufficient evidence against Benard Ndege, 46, who is accused of fatally shooting his wife, Fenny Bosibori, 42, on March 10, 2019. The incident occurred at their residence near Soy police station in Uasin Gishu County.
The prosecution called 15 witnesses, including the couple's youngest son, who reportedly witnessed the tragic event. The court heard that Ndege used 11 bullets from an AK rifle to kill his wife following a domestic dispute.

During the trial, State Counsel Mark Mugun informed the court that the prosecution had closed its case after presenting all the evidence and witnesses.
Testimony from Police Officer Cosmas Ingosi revealed that Ndege, who was based at Baharini police station along the Eldoret-Webuye highway, was assigned the firearm as a station duty officer. Instead of remaining on duty, he allegedly returned home during a blackout and shot his wife in the head, killing her instantly.
Ingosi further testified that after the shooting, only 19 out of 30 bullets issued with the rifle were recovered.
Justice Nyakundi has set December 16 for Ndege to present his defense before the court delivers its final verdict. Meanwhile, the accused remains in custody at Eldoret GK remand prison.
