A student tragically lost his life after jumping from the 14th floor of an apartment in the Kasarani area of Nairobi.
Police are investigating the incident, which they suspect to be a case of suicide. The victim, a Tanzanian second-year student at the United States International University (USIU), reportedly left behind a suicide note addressed to his parents. However, the contents of the note have not yet been disclosed.
The student’s body was discovered on Wednesday morning by fellow tenants at the apartment near the university shortly after the incident. He had been living alone at the time.
Nairobi police chief Adamson Bungei confirmed that investigations are ongoing. Officers who visited the scene transported the body to the mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted as part of the inquiry.

Authorities have raised concerns over the rising trend of suicide cases in the country, with police reporting up to two cases daily. The government has pledged to address the issue, which experts link to various factors, including joblessness, academic pressures, financial struggles, mental health disorders, and substance abuse.
The World Health Organization (WHO) emphasizes that such cases are often influenced by a combination of social, economic, and psychological factors, and calls for increased awareness and support to prevent further tragedies.
