A woman from Nairobi has been detained in connection with the tragic death of her four-year-old son, allegedly following an incident where the child soiled himself.
Police reports note that Melvin Owuor and an unidentified friend took the boy’s body to Mama Lucy Hospital mortuary on December 9, 2024. Ms. Owuor initially claimed that her son had passed away in his sleep.
However, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) revealed that after reporting the death, the two individuals left and switched off their phones, failing to follow up with the authorities as advised by morgue officials. This raised suspicions, leading the mortuary staff to report the matter to Mowlem police post.
Further investigations uncovered that the child had died from injuries allegedly inflicted by his mother, reportedly in response to the boy soiling himself.
The DCI has confirmed that both Ms. Owuor and her friend are now in police custody as detectives continue gathering evidence to establish the full details of the case.
