A 40-year-old man has been handed a 150-year prison sentence after being found guilty of murdering his three children in 2019 in Lelaitich, Bomet County.

Delivering the ruling on Monday, Bomet High Court Judge, Justice Julius Kipkosgei Ng’arng’ar, sentenced the accused, Benard Kipkemoi Kirui, to 50 years for each count of murder, with the terms running consecutively.

Kirui was convicted of killing his three sons—Amos Kipngetich (12), Vincent Kiprotich (8), and Emanuel Kipronoh (5)—while their mother was away from home.

Justice Ng’arng’ar condemned the act as brutal and inhumane, emphasizing that the harsh sentence should serve as a deterrent to potential offenders.

However, the judge noted that Kirui has 14 days to file an appeal.

Sharon Cherono, the mother of the slain children, welcomed the ruling, expressing gratitude to the court for delivering justice.
