A mother from Kolong village in Nandi County allegedly killed a man she believes defiled her two-year-old daughter.
The event was first reported to police at Kamombo Patrol Base by the area chief, who said the woman, only named Cheptoo, admitted to killing the alleged paedophile over the phone.
When Kamombo cops got on the scene, they were stopped from entering by an enraged mob clamouring for Cheptoo's blood.

According to Nandi Central Sub-County Police Commander David Anyir, The angry mob wanted to attack the child's mother. but officers from the nearby Kamombo station intervened and requested reinforcements from the Kapsabet Police Station.
"Officials from Kapsabet then rushed to the scene to assist the Kamombo officers in rescuing the woman."
"The windscreen of our patrol vehicle was smashed by residents, but we were able to rescue the woman." "However, the mob prevented us from retrieving the deceased's body," Anyir explained.
He said the woman's house was burned and destroyed after the rescue. Anyir continued, "Police have since asked the area's chief to negotiate the release of the man's remains." This had not yet occurred at the time of publication.
Cheptoo is being treated for her injuries at Kapsabet Referral Hospital while she awaits the police to finish investigating the matter.
