Residents of Karima village in Mwea, Kirinyaga County, were shocked after two children swimming in the Kanaro River within the Mwea irrigation rice plantation discovered a human body.
The two children discovered the body of a 36-year-old guy. The children dashed to inform those selling hay along the Mwea-Embu highway. Thiba police officers and the Thiba location chief were notified and responded instantly.
According to Thiba location Chief Maina Kamenya, James Mugo Gichobi went missing Thursday night, and his family has been searching for him.
Kamenya said that Detectives from Kiamaciri police station have launched an investigation into the matter and that the victim had no injuries on his body.

Mugo went missing on Thursday night, according to shocked relatives and residents of Karima and Nguka villages led by Murage Ngige.
"Although the family believes he was murdered, I believe the raging Kanaro river drowned him because this is not the first incident." But let's wait for the police inquiry," Murage remarked.
The body is at the Kerugoya Hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.
