A 26-year-old Kenyan was apprehended at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake, Sri Lanka while attempting to bring 4 kgs of cocaine into the country.
The drugs are valued at approximately Ksh.136 million (Rs 300 million).
According to Sri Lankan media, the suspect, who is also a vehicle trader, came in Sri Lanka via Qatar after traveling from Ethiopia.
Officers from Sri Lanka Customs' drugs control team discovered 180 cocaine capsules hidden within three metal cookie tins concealed in luggage.
The suspect has been handed over to officials from the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) while further investigations are conducted.
