Kericho County Referral Hospital was on Monday upgraded from level 4 to a level 5 hospital.

Speaking when he presented the upgrade certificate, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua noted that the upgrade will enhance the delivery of healthcare services to the residents and Kenyans.

“The upgrading of the Kericho County Referral to a Level 5 Hospital will greatly enhance the delivery of healthcare services to the residents and Kenyans. This afternoon, I made an extensive tour of the hospital and issued an upgrade certificate to the hospital,” he said.

Due to its advancement to level 5 certification, it is projected that the quality of healthcare services provided to locals will greatly improve.

Additionally, the national government provided Kes 210 million in cooperation with the Ministry of Health to support the hospital's development, emphasizing enhancing the facility's equipment.

Cabinet Secretary for Health Susan Nakhumicha said the upgrading acknowledges the hospital’s significant advancements in the realm of service delivery.

“This transformation signifies a promising future for healthcare services within the region,” she said.

She said the Kes 210 million fund will be primarily utilized to bolster the hospital’s equipment, ensuring it can cater to the evolving healthcare needs of the community effectively.
