On October 29, Busia passengers found themselves stranded in the middle of the road as both the driver and conductor abruptly abandoned the bus they were traveling in, disappearing into the night.
The bus, originally en route from Busia to Nairobi, came to a halt in the Sitotwet area along the Kisumu-Kericho road around 2 a.m. The driver swiftly exited, closely trailed by the conductor.
The Belgut Sub-county Police Commander, Charles Kibati, verified the incident. He further stated that one of the passengers filed a report at Ainamoi Police Station at 7 a.m.
Subsequently, the 29 passengers provided their statements at Sosiot Police Station and had to arrange an alternative means of reaching Nairobi.
As per Kabati's statement, the implicated vehicle, a Scania bus, was directed to the same police station for thorough investigation.
