An elderly woman in the Osia area in Teso North Sub County has died after the heavy wall of her house collapsed.
This is following strong winds that struck the area, blowing off roofs and leaving more than 20 families with nowhere to sleep last night.
Five people hospitalized at a local hospital have been moved to Kocholia sub-county referral with serious injuries.
Confirming the incident, Osia Chief Julius Ekirapa has called upon the disaster committee and other humanitarian organizations to move quickly to save lives.
“The situation here is bad; we just urge the disaster committee and any humanitarian organisations like the Kenya Red Cross Society to intervene and save the situation before we lose more lives,” Ekirapa said.
