A man aged 40 was on Thursday swept away by floods at Ikamate bridge in the Ndoleli area in Igembe North, Meru County, following heavy rainfall.
Eyewitnesses say the Ikamate bridge of Mworwara Valley in the Ndoleli area connecting Igembe North and Igembe Central has flooded since the rains started, deeming it impassible.
Further, the residents decry that heavy downpour has been experienced in these areas for the last four days and even KCPE and KPSEA candidates have been having difficulties crossing the dilapidated bridge to reach examination centers.
Thay are urging the Government to construct for a new bridge since the collapsed one is posing a danger to many especially children, during this rainy season.
