Thousands of Palestinians fled the northern part of Gaza, walking for miles as Israeli forces intensified their bombardment of the city.
Streams of people, including women, children, the elderly, and the disabled, made their way down Salah Eddin Street, one of Gaza's two north-south roadways, along an evacuation corridor declared by the Israel Defence Forces.
One teenager compared the protests to the "Nakba," or disaster, the Arabic term for the expulsion of Palestinians from their towns during Israel's establishment.

The Israel Defence Forces opened an evacuation window for the fifth day in a row, and the number of Israelis heading south has grown each day.
According to the UN, 2,000 people fled south on Sunday, climbing to 15,000 on Tuesday. According to the Israeli authorities, 50,000 Gazans used the evacuation route on Wednesday.
Following the October 7 attacks that killed 1,400 Israelis, Israel has increased its offensive inside Gaza.
According to Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, IDF troops are in the "heart of Gaza City," attacking Hamas infrastructure and commanders. It's unclear where Israel is battling.
“Gaza is the biggest terror stronghold that mankind has ever built. This whole city is one big terror base. Underground, they have kilometers of tunnels connecting to hospitals and schools,” Gallant said. “We continue to dismantle this capability.”
For weeks, the IDF has been shelling Gaza, claiming to have hit 14,000 terrorist targets in the densely populated region.
In southern Gaza, a man said that he and his neighbors had suffered through "horrifying days." He claimed they had fled their home in northern Gaza.
According to the Hamas-controlled health ministry, more than 10,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since Israel launched its military offensive over a month ago.
