The World Health Organization (WHO) has donated cholera kits to the State Department of Public Health set to be distributed to seventeen counties affected by floods.

 During a public briefing, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo says the kits have been dispatched from the WHO regional hub to the Kenya Red Cross warehouse for distribution.

β€œThe Chlera kits donated to the state department of Public Health by the World Health Organization (WHO) are being dispatched from the WHO region hub to the Kenya Red Cross warehouse for the last mile of distribution to 17 counties,” he said.

Isiolo County is also set to receive mosquito nets on Saturday.

However, he said diarrhea cases reported in Lamu, Garissa, Kwale, Mandera, and Wajir are being managed.

Outbreaks of pneumonic diseases in livestock have been recorded where 72 poultry,12 cattle, 1680mgoats, 728 sheep, and one camel have died due to the disease, bringing the total animal death toll to 2493.

β€œThe floods have also affected livestock and agriculture, with acreage of farmlands submerged, and an outbreak of pneumonic cattle disease, 72 poultry, 12 cattle, 1680 goats, 728 sheep, and 1 camel have died,” he said.
