After a ten-hour ordeal on the Tana River, Garsen MP Ali Wario Guyo and his Galole counterpart Hiribae Buya were rescued at approximately three in the morning.
The two, who were on a private boat in the Tana River participating in an 18-team relief food distribution exercise, went missing.
Hassan Mohammed, the Tana River County Commissioner, announced early on Sunday morning that every person who had gone missing had been found and was safe.
"We have stayed alert the entire night to ensure that everyone who was on that boat," said Mohammed adding that the 16 others included 2 MCAs and one child.
He also expressed gratitude to Kithure Kindiki, Cabinet Secretary for Interior, and Aden Duale, Cabinet Secretary for Defense, for their prompt involvement in the rescue operation and prompt response to the disaster.
"I would thank everyone who was involved in this rescue mission particularly the Red Cross who had sent the first boat and they even got lost four times but luckily they found the missing persons," he added.
Teary MP Guyo tried to say what was on his mind, but he was overwhelmed.
A multi-agency search and rescue team led by the Kenya Coast Guard was sent for the overnight expedition, according to a statement made earlier by CS Kindiki.
When the MPs and their aides got trapped in the river on their way to Garsen, they were taking part in a food distribution exercise for flood victims.
Following the occurrence, which coincides with persistently strong rains in several regions of the nation, lawmakers were shown in a video that has now gone viral pleading for assistance.
The squad is thought to have vanished after losing communication with the flanking team while conducting rescue operations after the Tana River overflowed its banks.
