President William Ruto has urged Kenyans to take in street children and show them parental love.
On Thursday, the president and First Lady Rachel Ruto hosted officials and children from 52 children's homes at the Eldoret State Lodge, emphasizing the importance of accommodating children and explaining why they should be cared for.
"There are too many empty bedrooms in Kenya." Our beds are all empty in our homes. Our dining tables have empty seats. Please put those empty beds to good use. These Kenyan children can become members of our families and societies. And they are wonderful children, innocent human beings created by God," Ruto said.

According to the president, children are a valuable resource in Kenya, as other countries face labor shortages due to a lack of children.
During his international travels, he revealed that he was asked to send Kenyans to some countries to provide labor because those countries did not produce enough children.
Ruto urged Kenyans to look after street children and their families and provide a decent standard of living for them.
He reiterated his desire to make Kenya a visa-free destination for visitors, citing Nairobi as the best city in the world to visit.
"Let's love our country. There are so many negative stories out there. There is a small issue somewhere, it is blown out of proportion. Another issue somewhere, people talk negatively about our country. It's completely unnecessary," the president further said.
