Two people on Sunday died after a Mash Company bus travelling from Nairobi and a Mercedes Benz trailer truck headed in the opposite direction collided in Kwale.

Confirming the accident, Samburu region police commander said the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway saw one person succumb to injuries at the scene, while the other, passed away as they were being taken to the hospital.

Further, he said others who sustained injuries are currently receiving medical attention at various hospitals in the area, including Mariakani Hospital.

He has called upon drivers to exercise caution on the roads, especially during the Christmas holiday season.

According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), 4,139 people have been killed in road accidents between January 1 and December 20, 2023.
