Ndindi Nyoro, a Kiharu Member of Parliament, has had his Facebook page hacked.

The page, which has over 500,000 followers, appears to have escaped its owner's control just 24 hours after he shared a New Year's message with his followers.

While acknowledging the hacking, the legislator shared the news on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, adding that his team was working to resolve the issue.

"My Facebook page was hacked yesterday. We are trying to resolve the problem...We are African and Africa is our Business..." he tweeted.

The Chair of the National Assembly's Budget and Appropriations Committee last posted on the page Monday morning, wishing Kenyans a Happy New Year.

"Wishing you all a prosperous New Year, 2024. Nawatakia baraka tele mwaka mpya. We are African and Africa is our Business," read the post.

Babu Owino, the Member of Parliament for Embakasi East, has stated that since the incident, hackers have been posing as the Kiharu lawmaker and requesting money from him.

"Hon Ndindi Nyoro's Facebook account has been hacked and hackers are inboxing me to send them money," he wrote on X.

Dennis Itumbi, a digital strategist, has advised Kenyans not to pay attention to the updates and email messages the hackers share.

"Please take note that hackers have taken control of the FB profile of Ndindi Nyoro and the official page. We are working to recover and restore the pages," he said.

The 563K-follower page has posted explicit content on the 'Facebook Stories' tab. An explicit video has been shared on the page's 'Stories' section for the past two hours.
