M-pesa services have been restored after experiencing a technical hitch earlier.

In a telecommunications company statement, Safaricom apologized to its users for the inconvenience caused.


During the hitch, Kenyans cannot use M-PESA's mobile money transfer service to conduct transactions.

The problem began around midday and can be found on the M-PESA app and the Sim Toolkit.

customers attempting to use the service to transact receive an error message stating, "MPESA is experiencing delays and is unable to accept your request." Please wait 10 minutes before attempting again."

Other users received a message saying, “Dear customer, MPESA is currently undergoing maintenance and is unable to process your request. We apologise for the inconvenience.”

Banks such as the KCB sent out a notice to their customers to notify them of the current issue.
