Murega Baichu, the husband of Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza, and two other relatives were questioned by the DCI regarding the murder of a famous Meru blogger.

A Kiambu judge has refused to give investigators another 14 days to keep six suspects linked to the blogger's death, instead ordering them to enter a plea by Wednesday.

Kiambu senior principal magistrate Merissa Opondo stated that the six had already been detained for an extended period of time and that their rights would be violated if they were not charged.

'Sniper's' body was found two weeks after he went missing.

Kenneth Mutua Gatiri alias Gasigi, Fredrick Muruiki Kiugi alias Pope, Franklin Kimathi alias Dudu Ras, Timothy Kinoti alias Timo, and Murangiri Kenneth Guantai alias Tali are the five accused now in detention.

On January 4, 2024, investigators from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Homicide Investigation Department apprehended them in Meru town, Meru County, and booked them at various police stations in Nairobi and Kiambu.

A post-mortem examination of the deceased's body at the Marimanti Level 4 Hospital mortuary in Tharaka Nithi, Meru County, found that he died as a result of strangling.

The sniper had marks on his neck and showed evidence of having been deprived of air, according to government pathologist Johansen Oduor, who conducted the examination.
