Felix Orinda, widely recognized as DJ Evolve, has disclosed fresh details about the night he was shot at a renowned Nairobi nightclub. Following multiple surgeries due to being shot in the neck on January 17, 2020, Evolve, now confined to a wheelchair, has revealed that he was reluctant to go to work on that ill-fated night.

The ex-entertainer, who recovered his voice a mere 8 months ago after a prolonged struggle for survival, acknowledged that his instincts were trying to convey a message to him. However, he dismissed these gut feelings, primarily due to the numerous calls urging him to show up at work.

"On this day, four years ago, God showed up for me, and He has been walking this journey with me to date," the disc jockey said while speaking to a local publication.

He proceeded to recount how, on the fateful day, his body resisted the idea of going to work. Evolve explained that his phone's alarm kept sounding, but he repeatedly chose to snooze it.

"I kept ignoring my alarm, but eventually I had to go around 4 am because I kept getting calls. I really didn't want to go that night," the entertainer said.

In conclusion, he urged people to embrace a one-day-at-a-time mentality and express gratitude for whatever comes their way. He also credited God for sustaining him and aiding in his recovery.

"Nothing is promised; it is also impossible. Just keep going," DJ Evolve said adding;

"We wouldn't be having this conversation if it wasn't for God,"

In an interview with The Star last year following his surgery, Evolve shared that he spent two days in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for recovery before being transferred to the general ward for a week. He disclosed that the initial words he spoke upon regaining consciousness were his own name.

“I was really surprised when I spoke my first words because I was doubting. My first words were my name. Actually after surgery the doctor came and asked what my name was and I wasn’t even sure If I could speak," Evolve added.
