Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo met with the new Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) board chairman Tom Mshindi on Monday.

Speaking on his X page, the CS announced that the two discussed the turn-round strategy for the public broadcaster.

Mshindi replaced Benjamin Maingi, whose appointment was revoked by President William Ruto.

His career in journalism and media is exceptional, and he had a fantastic position at the Nation Media Group (NMG) for nine years.

Beginning as a journalist, Mshindi rose through the ranks at NMG, eventually taking on the position of Managing Editor of the esteemed Daily Nation.

In addition, he served in important capacities as Chief Operating Officer, Managing Director of the Nation Newspapers Division, and Managing Director of Monitor Publications, an NMG affiliate in Uganda.

Mshindi is actively working as a writer and editor consultant for his business, Tom Mshindi Consulting, at the moment.

As Chairman, Mshindi will play a pivotal role in guiding the state-owned broadcaster toward fulfilling its mandate and contributing to the growth and development of Kenya’s media sector.

This appointment is a significant development for KBC as it seeks to revamp its operations and enhance its presence in Kenya’s media landscape.

Under the leadership of Tom Mshindi, KBC is expected to focus on delivering quality programming, promoting journalistic integrity, and effectively serving the diverse needs of the Kenyan public.
