A burial in Mt Elgon's Sasur village in Bungoma county had to be delayed after a family mistakenly picked up the body of another person instead of that of their kin.
Area chief James Kabunje said the family, who had already begun burial preparations, had to stop after receiving a call from the mortuary alerting them that they had removed the wrong body because another family had discovered their kin missing.
According to Kabunje, confusion was caused by the two deceased sharing the same names, and he advised the grieving to be cautious when identifying bodies.
