Former Citizen TV presenter Jacque Maribe has been found not guilty in the brutal murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani, while her ex-fiancee Ex-fiancée Joseph Irungu was found guilty.
"Having considered the evidence in this matter it is the finding of this court that the prosecution has adduced adequate evidence and has met the threshold.... It is the finding of this court that the first accused person murdered the deceased," ruled Justice Grace Nzioka.
While Aquiting, Maribe, Justice Nzioka said that the charges against her were improper.
“It is my considered view that the charge brought against the second accused person (Jacque Maribe) was not the proper charge.” Justice Nzioka ruled

Earlier, George Kimani, the businesswoman's brother, lamented the delay in judgment and expressed optimism that the long-awaited justice would finally put the family's minds at ease.
“It has taken long; we have been going to court for over five years; we knew the matter would come to an end last year so that we could all move on. We have tough days, especially our parents, but we just cope,” he said.
He described her as a selfless woman who was kind and hardworking.
“She was our firstborn and the driver behind the family business in South Sudan where she was the managing director of our company. She was my boss, a good friend and hardworking. It was painful losing her in that cruel manner,” he told Citizen Digital.
“Those who knew my sister at a personal level know that she was a giver, nurtured and brought out the best in people. I learnt a lot through her she ushered us into her company and help us. She was a loving sister, she played a very big role in our milestones as a family. She bought us things that we can never forget,” he added.
