A middle-aged woman is admitted to Naivasha Level 4 hospital after her estranged husband splashed boiling water on her and stabbed her abdomen with a knife in Kayole Estate.

Her internal organs were left hanging out, while her back was left covered in burns.

The victim, Pauline Wanjiku, says her husband, who is a former AP officer now working with the Nakuru County government, has since gone into hiding.

Speaking from her hospital bed, Wanjiku said her husband arrived home drunk, boiled water, and, without provocation, splashed it on her after an argument.

Additionally, Wanjiku revealed that neighbors rescued her and is now in fear as the suspect, who had also sought treatment in the hospital, had escaped.

Peter Njihia, a brother of the victim, termed the suspect as a very dangerous person, especially when drunk, adding that he had been arrested in the past on several occasions.

According to John Kinuthia from the Naivasha Gender Based Networking Cluster, they have recorded over ten cases of gender violence since the year began.
