A seven-day strike notice has been issued by doctors, which will start on Monday of next week.

The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) held a nonviolent protest in Nairobi on Monday, calling for changes to the policies that led to the death of their Secretary General, Davji Atellah, at a protest that was held in the same city last week.

On Thursday, while the medics were pressuring the government to post medical interns, Atellah was hit by a tear gas canister.

The doctors, who claim that the delay in posting the interns has impacted services in public hospitals nationwide, renewed their push on Monday to Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha to hire the interns.
