Thirteen Turkana County children and the human rights organization Kituo Cha Sheria have filed a lawsuit against Tullow Oil Company alleging environmental degradation.
The petition, submitted to the Lodwar Court on Thursday, asks for a number of remedies, including payment to the community from Tullow Oil Company for the lost animals, citing the company's environmental waste as the cause.
Additionally, they demand that the business be forced to clean up and remove all the waste it has released into the environment.
They also desire the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to file criminal charges for environmental degradation against the company's management.
