The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has reduced fuel prices between Kes 7 and 4. A liter of petrol now retails at Kes 199.15, diesel at Kes 190.38, and kerosene at Kes 188.74.
EPRA says that the revised prices include the 16 percent value-added tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, which is already in force, and the Tax Laws Amendment Act of 2020, as well as the revised rates for the excise duty adjusted for inflation.
This comes shortly after President William Ruto disclosed the government’s intentions to lower fuel prices during a development tour of Kericho.
The Head of State said it is part of the government’s initiatives to ensure the country moves forward on the right trajectory.
“Today new fuel prices will be announced, so be patient. Didn’t I tell you I will straighten these things?” the head of state indicated.
