Winfridah Mokaya Boyani has taken the oath of office as the new Chief Registrar of the Judiciary at the Supreme Court in Nairobi.
She takes over from Anne Amadi, who retired on November 24, 2023, after a decade-long tenure.
The swearing-in event was held in the presence of Florence Bore, Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection, Court of Appeal President Justice Daniel Musinga, and Retired Chief Justice David Maraga, among other dignitaries.
With over 13 years of experience as a judicial officer, Mokaya revealed her commitment to upholding the aspirations and expectations of the Kenyan people regarding the judiciary.
"Having been a judicial officer working in the regions & in the administration where I have spent the past 13 yrs, I have been at the forefront of the administration of justice & understood the aspirations & expectations of the Kenyan people on the Judiciary," Mokaya said.
With 14 years of service in the Magistracy, Mokaya brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the judicial landscape to her new role.
"I assume this office cognizant of my 14 years in the Magistracy that gives me a strategic view, practical socialization and a deep understanding of the working environment. Chief Registrar of the Judiciary.”
Mokaya joined the Judiciary in 1997 and served as a District Magistrate II (Prof), Resident Magistrate, Senior Resident Magistrate, Principal Magistrate and Senior Principal Magistrate.
She holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Nairobi and a post-graduate diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
She is also a Certified Public Secretary.
