Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa was on Saturday admitted to Karen Hospital after falling ill at Muthaiga Police cells, where he was detained.
Speaking on X, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale confirmed the news.

Echesa was arrested on Thursday for his alleged involvement in extortion targeting Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa and is scheduled to appear in court on April 2.
Police said that Echesa had been evading arrest as they attempted to question him for possible prosecution.
This development follows the arrest and prosecution of William Simiyu Matere, alias Elijah, in a Kibera Court the previous week for extorting over Sh240 million from Barasa.
