A seven-day notice has been issued by Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) for the retrieval of hundreds of unclaimed bodies, including those of 541 children.
Twenty of the 66 adult bodies that are lying in the KNH mortuary are unidentified, making 607 uncollected bodies in total.
The medical facility released a statement stating that after the notice period expires, it will apply for permission from the courts to dispose of the bodies that are lying at its farewell residence.
"Pursuant to Public Health Act Cap 242 [Subsidiary: PUBLIC HEALTH (PUBLIC MORTUARIES) RULES, 19911 (2), interested members of the public are therefore requested to identify and collect the bodies within 7 days," the statement reads in part.
