Eight people were killed after a van rammed into a stalled truck at Ngata Bridge along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway at around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Eyewitnesses who were among the first responders to the scene said they retrieved the bodies of six adults and two children from the wreckage.
According to a preliminary report by the police, the private van was ferrying over 15 people to Kisii for an event.
Confirming the accident, County Police Commander Samuel Ndanyi said as of 7 a.m. only one person had been confirmed to have survived.
The survivor was a woman whose legs were broken.

Further, Ndanyi said that the bodies have been moved to the Nakuru Annex Funeral home.
